Jichi Medical University, in collaboration with Japan's prefectures, was established to educate dedicated doctors of ethical standing in order to provide highly skilled medical care in remote areas of Japan where medical aid is limited, to promote the health and well-being for people living in rural communities, and to contribute to the advancement of medicine.
Currently, it is essential to improve and ensure the quality of medical care for the well-being of residents living in remote areas. This is the primary purpose of education at Jichi Medical University.The School of Medicine at Jichi Medical University has an academic loan program to tentatively exempt all incoming students from the payment of all tuition, fees and admission fees. In addition, first year students will be provided with an academic preparatory allowance to assist them with the purchase of textbooks to begin their campus life. Jichi Medical University Hospital, which opened in 1974, plays a pioneering role in ensuring community medicine and is equipped with advanced medical facilities in order to put the university’s educational philosophies and principles into practice. The hospital currently has 1,132 beds and 40 clinical sections. Its excellent doctors and medical technologists, combined with state-of-the-art medical facilities, provide an environment for excellent clinical education. The hospital is also making efforts to further improve its medical care by offering first-rate care to help patients feel more comfortable and confident during their stay. A renewal plan is also currently underway for the facilities and equipment in the outpatient areas. This plan aims to create a hospital that can provide medical care that meets the demands of the 21st century by enhancing its technology and improving its amenities so that patients of diversified needs can be provided with the best medical care.
