Budapest's public transport system is really good. The service includes buses, trams,
trolleybuses, 4 Metro lines and even ferries over the Danube. They are available daily from
4:30 to 23:30. Metros run from every 15 minutes to 3 minutes (at peak times). After 23:30
there are night buses in all lines. Hospitals are located mostly by the Metro line M3.
You have to buy ticket or pass before boarding from ticket offices at Metro stations or from
vending machines at many tramp and bus stops in the city center. Single tickets (350 HUF)
have to be validated at the beginning of every journey. For validation use the orange boxes
on buses and tramps, or at Metro stations in top of the escalator. Ticket inspectors can ask
your ticket or pass on any vehicle or anywhere at  Metro stations. Don't forget to validate the

ticket and keep hold of it! For a four week exchange we recommend to buy a monthly pass
(9500 HUF) . You need to buy it once, and can use the whole service for 30 days. There is
discount for students with student ID (if it is not combined with a bank card) issued by the
EU or EEA Member States or Switzerland. Student monthly pass costs 3450 HUF.
There are ticket office and vending machines at the airport as well. From the airport to the
city center at day time use the bus 200E to Kőbánya-Kispest Metro station and change to
Metro line M3, at night use the bus to Határ utca Metro station and change to the night buses
Google maps and this app can help you to plan your trips in the city.

We offer a wide range of social programs at our local organizations during summer months (July and August). Colourful social programs, cultural programs, parties, excursions are organized on weekdays and on weekends as well.

Please note that in January/June due to our examination period social programs are not guaranteed.

Every incoming student will have his/her own Contact Person, who will get in touch with them via e-mail before the exchange starts. Therefore please write an e-mail address in your AF which you check regularly!
