Traditionally we have had a very good social programme here in Tampere! Most of the social programme is free to exchange students. The social programme has included, for example, the following:

  • Going around the sights in Tampere – there are loads of beautiful places in the summer, for example a scenery tower where they bake the best doughnuts in the world ( and a nice summer island Viikinsaari, just a 20 minute ferry ride away from the city centre. Possibility for games like football and beach volley are also available.
  • Sauna, which is something you can't miss when you come to Finland. We have several public saunas in Tampere, and most of the people have a sauna in their house!
  • In winter there is possibility to try for example winter swimming! How exotic and freezing! ( If you don't seek for extreme experiences, you can always go skating on the iced lakes, or do other fun wintersports.
  • Parties, for example an international food party where every student can prepare some dish typical for the student's home country.
  • There is two Exchange Students’ Weekends (named also the whole country weekend) for all the exchange students staying in Finland. The whole country weekends usually take place in june and july.
  • In the end of january there is a cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm and back, with medical students from all med schools in Finland on the boat. We have welcomed also the exchange students to join the cruise if they will.
