What to expect?
We take great pride in the high level of medical care in the Czech Republic. Our tutors all speak English (there is an English Parallel for foreign students at our faculty), the hospitals are very well equipped, and quite modern.

And what do we expect from you?
We expect you to be respectful to the doctors and other staff in the hospital. In case of repetitive complaints we will be forced to cancel your internship. If you are having any difficulties, or wish to take a sick day, do not forget to inform your tutor, preferably in advance.
The level of participation in the hospital depends purely on your effort and interest. If the doctors see that you are passionate for the discipline they will take more time to teach you. We encourge you to make the most out of your exchange, and interact with the tutors, as it will make your internship more pleasant for both you and them.

BOARDING
You can use the pocket money (around 1000 czk) to buy lunch in the hospital or the students canteen.
LODGING
All of the incoming students will be staying at the dormitory. You will be placed in a room with another student; the kitchen is usually shared with more. All the incoming students will be placed within the same dormitory.

Unfortunately, neither dishes, nor cutlery are complementary in the kitchen. For a deposite, we will be able to lend you some, however, if you can, we encourge you to bring some with you. The dormitory service will provide you with bed sheets. There is a laundry machine avaliable in the dorm for a small fee.
TRANSPORTATION

Our amazing CPs will be ready to pick you up at the airport. Do not forget to fill in the Card of Confirmation so we know when to expect you. Specify the number of your flight and time of arrival. May there be any changes to your flights, please contact the LEO and you CP at once. If you fail to fill in the Card of Confirmation, we cannot guarantee you will be picked up.

The public transportation in Prague is one of the best in the world. Your CP will take you the office for an unlimited monthly pass for 260 CZK (paid by yourself), which allows you to use the metro, trams, and buses, for the entire month. For this, do not forger to bring a passport sized photograph.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

We offer a social programme in July and August (also cooperating with other two medical faculties in Prague). What is more, this year we cooperate with local commitees from different cities as well as boardering countries (International Social Program).
From September to June the social program is usually not offered. We will invite you to a Welcome Dinner, a National Food and Drinks Party, and a Goodbye Party. Your CP will also try their best to keep you company. Please remember that in these months all the students have to go to school almost every day and have many exams they have to study for. It will not be possible for us to look after you 24/7, but we will try our best.

MUST SEE
Prague - City of a Hundred Spires or Praga Mater Urbium (Prague, Mother of Cities)- is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Some of the things you have to see while in Prague are the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter, Lennon Wall and Petrin Tower.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please upload all the document in advance. HepB, TBC test, Health Insurance via the Card of Documents, the rest, if needed, please email to us in advance.
Do not forget to bring a photo (passport size), white coat and shoes to wear at the hospital (white shoes are optimal, different color is not a problem as long as you do not wear the shoes that you normally wear outdoors).

We reserve the right to last minute changes of the deparment. The exchanges are only possible thanks to the amazing tutors who had agreed to teach you throughout your stay. From time to time, however, a cancellation by the tutor occurs. We are trying our hardest to arrange the desired placement for you, but sometimes due to various reason it is simply not possible. We ask you to understand this, as you already signed the contract with your home IFMSA office, where it is stated.
