Clerkship Type
- Clinical Clerkship
A clinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a clinical department of a hospital or clinic, such as Dermatology and Pediatrics.
- Preclinical Clerkship
A preclinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a preclinical department at a Medical Faculty/School or Hospital, such as Biology and Chemistry
Required level of studies
We accept preclinical, clinical and graduated students.
Students who will have finished 3rd grade during the time of the exchange will be accepted as a clinical student.

Even if accepted by the hosting country, students must be still enrolled in university by the time the Application Form is sent.

Academic Quality
-At least 80% attendance IS COMPULSORY.

-Student-handbook is required and has to be filled and signed at the end of the clerkship. Please bring your own handbook or the LEO of the LC will provide you with one.

-You have to follow your Tutor's rules in order to obtain a certificate.

-We are able to serve clinical clerkships for preclinical students at some departments like Microbiology since we have an integrated interdisciplinary medical education system.

Cities Remarks
We have 60 active LCs and it is really difficult to give a student his or her desired choice. In order to avoid this disappointment, please make your choices according to the instructions below.

Outgoings should choose cities, not LCs.

A city cannot be chosen more than one time.

We have 3 groups of cities. The incoming student should select one city from each of the 3 groups. In other words, choose 1 city in group 1, one city in group 2 and one city in group 3.

GROUP 1: Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya

GROUP 2: Ankara, Balikesir, Bursa, Denizli, Edirne, Eskisehir, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Samsun, Tekirdag, Trabzon, Adana, Mersin, Mugla, Ordu, Hatay, Gaziantep

GROUP 3: Aydin, Bolu, Kirikkale, Konya, Kutahya, Isparta, Manisa, Tekirdag, Tokat, Sivas, Afyon, Sakarya, Elazig, Malatya, Erzurum, Giresun, Kahramanmaras

The placement into the desired cities is not guaranteed (especially for winter period). If the student doesn’t follow the city choice rules, we sadly can not consider the choices and place him/her to any available city and AF can be sent back. 

Since it is a programme to provide and support the exchange of cultural values and medical knowledge between different countries of the world, if you want to be 3 or more people together in the same LC, you should send us an e-mail through your NEOs beforehand to see if it is possible. Personal applications for this kind of request won't be valid. 


*Sivas-Cumhuriyet LC won't be able to accept any preclinical students.
*Ankara-Ufuk LC won't be able to accept any preclinical students.
*Mugla-Mugla LC won't be able to accept any preclinical students.
*Izmir-Katip Celebi LC won't accept any male students for this season.
*Adana- Cukurova LC won't accept any preclinical students for this season.
*Ankara-Gazi LC won't accept any preclinical students.

Calendar Remarks
If you desire a time interval other than a calendar month as your exchange period, please keep in mind that we have limited ability to do that in a limited number of LCs and it is possible ONLY in summer months (July, August).

Social Program
Most of the LCs have a social program during summer. Contact persons and LEO will inform you about specific social programs for every LC.

Since Turkey is a historical and a touristic country, we provide our guests a wonderful social program original for each city. We prepare national tours to Pamukkale, Izmir, Cappadocia, Antalya and many other places depends on the year. Usually the tours are organized with a minimum of 50 incomings.

Before or during your clerkship you will be invited to a facebook group to update yourselves about our national tours in July/August. The tours will be arranged by a coordinator and accommodation, sightseeing etc. will be arranged before your arrival. So if you apply for a tour and resign before the deadline you might have to pay a penalty fee!!!! Cancellations only can be done by giving the information to the coordinator.
You must suit the tour coordinator’s requirements and keep yourselves updated about the tour you applied. Please be aware of these conditions before you apply for a tour. You can get more information from your Contact Person or via e-mail.
During the winter months, if we reach enough number of participants for a spesific month, we try to organize mini-national tours, as well.

Although we accept couples, they might not be able placed in the same room. It's usually up to the society. We only can guarantee that they will be placed in the same LCs if mentioned.

UNILATERAL STUDENTS

*Previously students were supposed to make the payment to LCs directly, however, to have a better way of control on the management of money, we have decided to take all the payments through the main bank account of TurkMSIC. According to this:
- All unilateral payments must be done within 2 weeks after receiving the CA. And the receipt must be sent to the following e-mail addresses stating the number of AF, name & surname and the sending NMO: neo-in@turkmsic.net  and treasurer@turkmsic.net.
- If a student cancels his/her exchange at least 4 weeks prior to the exchange starting date, half of the fee can be refunded upon request. In case of any cancellation later than 4 weeks prior to the exchange, there will be no refund of the fee.

Visa requirements
Turkey doesn't have a strict visa policy and recently Electronic visa (E-Visa) system is adapted which permits foreigners to obtain their visa online. Please keep in mind that electronic visa is valid only if the student chooses to obtain a tourist visa. To obtain a student visa, one can always contact us for further information. If you request an invitation letter, you should contact your NEO. Invitation letter requests which are not sent via the NEO of that country will not be taken into consideration. To obtain hardcopy invitation letters, you should inform your NEO during the first week of February. For further information; please check the link below.

The standard documents are the basic documents that the students are asking for and the special documents are less important, as only some Local Committees ask for them. So it's mandatory to upload the standard documents, but not the special ones. (Students do it when asked for by the LEO/NEO.)
The upon arrival documents are hard copies documents that the students are requested to take with them in the host country.”
Immunization requirements
There are no special requirements for our NMO. But some universities might demand some special documents. Contact your CP as soon as possible when you receive your CA.

Insurance
As NMO, we require Health Insurance and it should be done in your home country. We do not ask for any kind of travel insurance as compulsory, however, it is advised to any traveller in case of any baggage loss, flight cancellation etc. Usually the flight companies offer these kind of insurances while you buy your tickets online. It is recommended to review these kind of options. Some LCs of our NMO require Malpractice Insurance to enable you work at their hospitals. This type of insurance can be arranged in our country. The LEOs will inform you about it if it is necessary when you get your CAs. A liability insurance is not required.

MRSA test is not required in most LCs. The Exchange Officer will contact you if have to undergo such a test.

For the ones who choose Antalya-Akdeniz LC and be assigned to that LC, they are supposed to submit a permission letter from the dean of their faculties to the dean of Akdeniz University Medical Faculty until the deadline proposed by LEOs. Otherwise, their assignation to Akdeniz LC will be cancelled and it is subject to an alteration of the LC.


The police clearance report should be submitted if the exchange student assigned to Manisa-Celal Bayar LC to be given to the dormitory.

Hepatitis B antibodies, vaccination card is requested by some specific LCs if necessary.

Graduated students are welcome to attend an exchange in Turkey:
-If it is in the first 6 months after graduation.
-If they can submit an official document mentioning that they are graduated either as a diploma or an official letter from the deanship of their faculties. This document should be uploaded in the "Proof of Enrollment" part of the Card of Documents.

*Ankara-Yildirim Beyazit LC will ask for :
1. A letter of internship approval from your institution
2. Proof of insurance or social security (any international insurance which is written in English is accepted)
3. A letter written by students that include the dates and department of internship for which they are applying.
 
*If you are accepted in Tekirdag-Namik Kemal LC, you will be required to send all the documents uploaded in the Card of Documents by post (HARD COPIES). 
The LEO will provide you with the postal address where you can send the hard copy documents once you received the Card of Acceptance.

We prefer substitution over the cancellation.
Some LCs can't accept the substitution. If that's the case, we will notify you about it.

If there is a case of substitution of a unilateral contract, the sending NMO is kindly requested to arrange the money transfer between the students in the country itself.
