Academic Quality
Full status, we take Academic Quality very seriously and expect you to work in the hospital as a full member of the clinician's team. In germany, especially in the university hospitals, doctors are unfortunately usually very busy and always on the move, which sometimes makes them seem unapproachable. In that case we encourage our exchange students to actively ask their tutors a lot of questions so that they make the most of their stay, and also approach the other german students who are doing their residency in the departments.

Nightshifts
No
Special Remarks
Hospital attendance required: 100 %
You may take 10% off, if you reach a prior agreement with your supervising doctor.

Cities Remarks
1. Be aware that the desired city is only a list of preferences and that we can NOT guarantee that you will be placed in one of those desired cities.

2. Please choose 3 different LCs.

3. Incomings can only choose one of the following Local Committees:
- Berlin
- Heidelberg
- Munich
(choosing one of those LCs is not mandatory)

4. We do not place couples/friends in the same city.

5. Please be aware that the chart above does not necessarily reflect the monthly hosting capacities of the cities, since it heavily depends on whether they can find accomodations. In Germany our biggest struggle when organizing the exchanges for the incomings is finding accomodation for them, so the LEOs can only tell me shortly before I do the distribution if and how many incomings they can receive depending on whether they found places to accomodate them or not. Even still, each LC can only host a small number of incomings and since I do the distribution on a first come first serve basis, getting into the popular LCs is quite low. Therefore I would recommend for all Incomings to thoroughly research all cities and maybe apply for smaller cities since the chance of getting them is much higher.
Calendar Remarks
Please note that we only provide clerkships by FULL CALENDAR MONTHS.
We expect the students to arrive the first day of a month and stay until the last day, clerkship usually starts on the following working day. Accomodations are also only available for that time period as well.
Exceptions may apply for the month of January. Please contact us for further information BEFORE sending the application form.

You will be asked to provide a certificate of your language skills. Sometimes a specific department in a city might require German skills as well. Please check the LC pages for those requirements.

4. If you wish to do a clerkship at a GP, please contact us beforehand as only very limited spots are available and cannot be guaranteed.

For most students a tourist visa shall be sufficient as we apply for the work permit of our incoming students. This, however, may be up to change and cannot be guaranteed by bvmd Germany. In case of uncertainty, please refer to the german embassy directly to inquire which kind of visa is needed.
Once the student has started the application process we can provide additional documents that are required by the German embassy upon request by the sending NEO-Out.

Special remarks
Graduated students are not allowed to participate in our program and will not be accepted. If the student is close to graduating, please make sure that the student is still enrolled in university during the time of the exchange.

Our Local Committees offer rather few places at once. Therefore the chance of getting one of your choices might be small if you only choose the very popular choices (Berlin, Munich, Hamburg...).
Be also aware that not every Local Committee accepts students at all times, what could be a reason for placing you in another place. We try very hard to put you in the desired place or at least close to it, but please understand it isn't always possible.  On the other hand, every Local Committee offers a high quality exchange. In fact, smaller cities tend to offer even better exchange experiences! Germany is also not that big, so you can easily travel at all times :)

Due to prior experiences, we kindly ask you to respect our conditions and German regulations and habits. Even as an exchange student you are expected to attend all required classes and to work in the hospital like everyone else (standard: 8 hours).
Punctuality is crucial. Non-compliance is considered rude and impudent, and we reserve the right to send students home if we receive complaints from the hospital and the doctors in charge, or your accommodation and contact person.

Incomings must not host friends or family members in their apartments.
