Clerkship Type
- Clinical Clerkship
A clinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a clinical department of a hospital or clinic, such as Dermatology and Pediatrics.
- Preclinical Clerkship
A preclinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a preclinical department at a Medical Faculty/School or Hospital, such as Biology and Chemistry
Required level of studies
A student can choose a professional exchange only if they have finished at least their 2nd year.

Even if accepted by the hosting country, students must be still enrolled in university by the time the Application Form is sent.

As we aim to receive feedback from the incoming students regarding their tutors and the working conditions they are placed in, we strive to improve all of the forementioned by talking and discussing with the tutors and head of departments the problems we face, thus resolving them and develop ourselves. Also every student is provided with a tutor, most commonly a Professor and an English speaking doctor/resident who translates when they come in contact with a patient.

Cities Remarks
IMPORTANT: When you choose your cities you have to choose one from each of the following groups:

a) Medical Faculty of Sofia University or Medical University of Sofia

b) Plovdiv or Varna

c) Pleven or Stara Zagora

If it has two cities from one group, your Application Form will be sent back to change it!

Please keep in mind that you can be placed in any city depening on availability in the LCs.

If the student applies for the SUMMER MONTHS - the AF must be submitted before the IFMSA March Meeting.

All exchanges begin on the 1st day of the month and end on the last day of the month.

Social Program
We provide one of the best and entertaining social programs, including a National Social Program, where we bring together all incoming students from all the 6 medical faculties. Not only do we organise an unforgettable trip to the notorious Bulgarian seaside, but also allow the incoming students to soak up the traditional, ancient atmosphere and try out the delicious national cuisine in some of the oldest towns of the country.

The student must pay the Fee via bank account to the hosting LC AT LEAST 1 month before the exchange begins. Otherwise the clerkship may be cancelled.
Visa requirements

Special Remarks
The student is supposed to apply ONLY for clinical subjects that has already studied in the university.
In some cases pre-clinical students may be accepted as well.

The standard documents are the basic documents that the students are asking for and the special documents are less important, as only some Local Committees ask for them. So it's mandatory to upload the standard documents, but not the special ones. (Students do it when asked for by the LEO/NEO.)
The upon arrival documents are hard copies documents that the students are requested to take with them in the host country.”
